The painting of Antonis Politakis, although abstracted, suggests depiction with recognisable sea shapes and distinguishable the subjectiveness
of the handwriting. It also happens the idiom of the artist to connect in a persuasive manner the sosemnisation of gesticulation and the interpretative intention.
The dissolution, the liguitidy of colour, the unexpected shape that takes each time the thematic proposal are confused with the basic properties of the style of the painter. Of course the paint by Politakis is not a
descriptive one, although it offers a conplete illustrative type in which a chaotic aqueous space has been entrolled during the instrateneous appearence of the waving. If the sense of movement constitutes a basic
feature of the illustration of the artist, the shape and the colour that he adopts are the substantial rungs for the approach of the natural picture. The irregular broken that dominates the picturing doesn't lie far
from the accidental shape of wave extremities while the subject of wavering and of its repetitions is recalled with aptitude. The colour is one of the most peculiar values of the painting: it cites to the chromatic
quality of the subject, which although doesn't miss the climax of graduation. Excellent worked with a tendency towards clearness, it rends also to the flat ornamental surface. The relation between the painting of
Politakis and the abstraction doesn't need to be particularly indicated, since this appears to be the main place of its origin. The significance of this art lies also in the fact that it is a proved evidence of the
possibilities of modern sea depicting. |
